Looking for the perfect day trip from Cape Town that skips the traffic and lands you somewhere peaceful and picturesque in under an hour? Welcome to the world of Bohemian Daytrips — effortless escapes from our centrally located guesthouse near Century City.
At the Bohemian Guesthouse, you’re just a few minutes from the N1, N2, and R300 highways, which makes us the ideal launch pad for day adventures without the hassle. This week, we packed our bags (and sunscreen) and set off for a laid-back coastal town that feels like another world entirely — Pringle Bay.
Easy Access, Maximum Escape
Thanks to our location right next to Century City, we hit the road without touching the city centre. In just over an hour, we were in Pringle Bay, where fences are rare, nature is respected, and the biggest safety tip is to keep your distance from the local baboons.
Yes, really.

First Stop: Breakfast at Menuscha Café 🍳
Our first order of the day? A hearty breakfast at Menuscha — a local gem that offers warm hospitality, generous portions, and a shop filled with gifts and goodies. We devoured their signature breakfast plate and a buttery croissant, paired with strong, delicious coffee. It’s the kind of place that feels like a secret you want to share.
After breakfast, we browsed the little shop attached to the café and found some perfect gifts and keepsakes to take home. A little retail therapy before the beach? Always a good idea. Find them here: https://g.co/kgs/BMmmhDJ
Destination: Moonlight Beach 🌊
With our bellies full and our spirits high, we headed to Moonlight Beach, where a lighthouse watches over a quiet, powdery stretch of sand. The beach was nearly empty, the sun was hot, the wind was still, and the water was cool and clear. The waves are gentle here — much softer than Cape Town’s wild surf — making it ideal for a relaxed swim or a seaside nap.

Local Life in Pringle Bay
After the beach, we took a scenic drive through Pringle Bay village. We passed weathered fishing bakkies, barefoot kids, and holiday homes without fences — a visual sigh of relief from the high walls and electric gates of the city.
We then drove through to Rooi-Els, where the beach was bustling with families, kayakers, and locals enjoying the afternoon sun. We didn’t swim here, but the vibe was lively and welcoming — perfect for people-watching and soaking in the atmosphere.

Scenic Stop: Clarence Drive Lookout Point 🚗
Before heading home, we paused at the Clarence Drive Outlook Point. From here, you get sweeping views of the coastline, with surfers in the water and volleyball games on the beach below. It’s a reminder of how breathtakingly beautiful this stretch of the Western Cape really is.
The drive back along the R44 was the cherry on top — hugging the coastline with ocean views the entire way to Strand, before reconnecting with the N2. Within minutes, we were back at the guesthouse, wind-blown, sun-kissed, and totally recharged.
